When i boot up my pc finds the bios and goes through it but the goes to a black screen with the cursor flashing in the top left corner. I have entered system set up and the computer does detect the hard drive at the boot up stage. Can anybody help me?

Power up the computer, and after the self test beep, press and hold the Control key to invoke the Boot menu.
From the menu choose Command prompt and hit enter.
At the prompt type Scanreg /Restore and hit enter. (Note: there is a space between Scanreg and /).
Choose the most recent Registry backup marked as Started then press enter and enter again.
Windows should now start, if it doesn't, repeat the above process choosing the next older Registry backup.
