Hello forum friends,
I am dyer need again this is what I am having problems again. thank you in advance for your professional help.

I receive the following error message when starting up word:

Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program, an error log is being created.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office, I have uninistalled any NAV products and I don't have Winfax installed. Any idea why this may be happening? I cannot find the error log and the only way to start it is using the /a option.

Hi rodneym, run a search for normal.dot and delete any instance that you find of it. Try opening Word now. Do you still get an error message?

Hi Rodney. What version of Windows and Word are you using (e.g. Windows XP Home with Word 2000)?

The normal.dot file must exist on your computer since you have Word installed. Windows' Search won't find it unless you "un-hide" hidden files and folders.

To do that, open My Computer, go to Tools>Folder Options>Advanced tab and check "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "hide file extensions of known file types," click OK

The run the search again and delete all instances of normal.dot it finds. See if that fixes the Word problem.
