OK this is an easy one. I recently reformatted my son's hard drive. I have re installed everything that came with the machine. It has a dvd drive and that works fine as a cd rom drive but it won't play dvd discs anymore. I have installed the driver for it so is it a dvd player that is missing. It isn't among the software supplied with the machine. Can I download one from somewhere?

I don't know exactly what you mean by the drive not playing dvd discs anymore. Does your system at least recognize that a dvd disc is inserted? A dvd software player is necessary to play dvd movies if you do not have a hardware decoder. Check out Digital Digest (http://www.digital-digest.com) for a lot information and links to player downloads. A lot of dvd movies include a software player called InterActual Player or PCFriendly that should play the movie. If you want a lot of features, try PowerDVD or WinDVD, which are available for download as demos.
