When I loaded MS Money the program wanted me to complete the registration for MS Passport.
I did not.
What is this, what does it do and why did I react this way. Only because it was MS???????????

Don't worry about it....

The passport is just a MS gimic to get you to use their services and the services of on-line businesses that are in bed with MS. It is not needed for general Microsft support like windows updates and such. Besides it gets hacked about every other week and people that use it for shopping lose credit card and account numbers.

Ummmm...

OK...I exagerated the every other week thing, but it is known to be vulnerable to hackers. The thing was designed to organize peoples passwords, accounts, payment methods, etc. So when you went to a member site, you didn't have to input all your information. The site just reads your Passport and off you go......when it works. ;)

People that use MSN get passports when they sign up for internet service. I have one for my back-up dial-up account. I only use it to access the network....NOTHING else.

you can set it to not collect any passwords though. I did that since it made me get one for the zone and the msn messenger. :)
