I scan other postings to learn from them and saw a reference to removing temporary internet files from time to time to improve system performance. Could you explain more about this -- what are they and how do I remove them?

Temporary internet files are also referred to as your InternetExplorer "CACHE".

What happens is, every webpage you visit, you download the entire content of that page to the cache. From then on, until the cache is emptied, whenever you re-visit the page, IE can look there for the content instead of having to re-download. This is handy for "static" pages that don't actually change much because it makes your browsing experience much faster (it's quicker to load from your hard drive than it is to download from a remote web server). However, it can be a right pain in the rear end for constantly changing pages like BB forums.

Here is how you adjust your cache setting in IE5.
Go Tools>>Internet Options/General Tab.
Under "Temporary Internet files' there are two buttons.
Delete files instantly clears your cache.
Click the settings button.
The top option is the most important - Check for newer versions of stored pages - EVERY VISIT TO THE PAGE.
This will ensure you are getting the most up-to-date version of the page you can (barring ISP caching which is another issue!).

Thanks to both for help -- I have done the delete and changed settings so changed pages are picked up.

MiShY - I linked to article with autoexec.bat script but couldn't do cut and paste into e-mail for passing on the info to a friend. Is there something different with that white on black format that makes copy/paste different? I see you recommended copy/paste for channging bat file if desired.
