Windows ME won't load

Help!

I do not know much about computers but mine stops loading windows. It stops loading at the windows ME screen. I then have to turn it off and on again several times before it will actually start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to try to fix this problem before I have to take it somewhere. Thanks.

Please use system restore and roll back to a time when everything was ok.

Hi TJolly and thank you for the greeting! I have actually done a system restore which did not work. I then reformatted the hard drive and installed windows 98. I still had the same problem so I re-reformatted the hard drive and did a re-reinstall of windows ME to no avail. I have read on the net that it could me a hardware issue but I do not know anything about that aspect of the computer or how to check it. Any more help would still be appreciated.
