I downloaded the DirectX uninstaller because I was having trouble installing DirectX 9.0c for my Sims2 game in the first place. I run the undx9.bat file, and get to part three on it, the cleanup part, and a popup comes up that says "Installation Failed" and the entire thing closes out.
I really don't know what to do.

Did you try the troubleshooter?

Yeah. I even tried straight DirectX 9.0c installation again, and I still get the error message about the cabinet file that can't be trusted. So neither installation and uninstallation work.
The troubleshooter doesn't offer any of the options to fix it.

I'm going to bookmark as I am having the same problem trying to
download and install DirectX 9.0c, Ive tried various approaches all without success. Even the Windows Update tells me it has been successfully installed until i go to dxdiag Direct X Diagnostic Tool and it tells me I have
Direct X 9.0b installed.

The exact same thing happens to me. I go to play EQII and log into the character select screen it says "Critical Error! Directx 9.0c is required to play EverQuest II!" so, then I log off and I install Directx 9.0c and whatnot.. Then when I go to 'Run,' then type in "DXDIAG" it says I still have 9.0b. I've gone to a LOT of people with help for this.. And everyone tells me the same thing. I am really lost.. I already started up my subscription, and even that had to be done through techsupport.. And once it was set up I went to log on and recieved that Critical Error! message.
Help would be GREATLY appreciated. :( TTx
