All of a sudden my computer has been displaying vertical and horizontal moving squiggly green lines. It occurs without prediction, but mainly when I've been using Microsoft Word. But then, now twice the computer has frozen and a blank white screen appears with some sparse vertical colored lines; purple, red, blue, etc. When it freezes I have to power it off manually. Does anyone know what might be wrong?
It started all of a sudden and the only things I can think of is that I recently updated my Windows Media Player 9.0, almost getting electrocuted by unproperly unplugging my computer while it was on, and having played an incresaing number of web-based flash games. Thanks!

Hi Dana, welcome to the "House Of Pain!!"
Just kidding!Anyway, have you tried installing the latest video drivers for your card or reinstalling your present drivers?

Also make sure all of your connections are tight in the back of your system. Monitor cables, video ect....

The times I've seen that were when either the video card was overheating or it was almost dead. I actually have one sitting on my shelf that does the same thing. Nive green vertical lines along with other colors when I boot the computer...
Does the problems happen as soon as you turn on the computer, or after Windows starts to load? |

open the case and make sure it is dust free. Pull the video card and put it back in. disconnect and reconnect the monitor power cord and cable.

I'd suggest lowering the hertz on the monitor.
right click the desktop, go to properties. go to settings tab and then select advanced. go to monitor tab and drop your hrtz down to 60 if it's higher. |

Thanks!
Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. I took out one of the cards and put it back in and it seems to be working much better!
