Compac Presario won't boot up

My Compac Presario 5610 with Windows 2000 and 60 gig hard drive won't boot up. It just quit while composing an email and will not boot even in safe mode. I ran my quick restore disk and it told me I had a bad memory stick in slot one so I removed it and replaced it with #2 stick. That got rid of the memory error but it still will not boot up. The restore disk said the hard drive was okay. HELP!!
