Monitor shut off

HI every one,
This my sound silly but I think there is some kind of bug in my machine that turns off my monitor only when using the internet.
When I am playing a game or using my machine off the net it will stay on with no trouble. But after being connected for a while (time differs) my monitor will simply go off. I can manually turn it off and then back on and it will stay on for only a short time and go off again.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Is there anything I can do?

Frustrated!

Go into Control Panel>Display>Screensaver tab>Power button and and try setting the monitor to "Never," click OK to save the change and see if the problem goes away.

A year and a half ago or so, I had a very old monitor, which did the same trick. Mine caused an electric shock or something and turned off my pc as well. As for your problem, it could be caused by spyware or by Windows... Follow the previous post. If it doesn't work download Hijackthis! and post the log file from it. Hope that helps. Also download Ad-Aware and/or Spybot, update them and scan for spyware before posting log file from Hijackthis! .

Unhappy Thanks

Thanks Miz and Icecube,
I complied with your advice and so far it has not worked.
I am not sure were to post the log from hyjack.
I am begining to think it is the monitor, although this same thing happened to my last one. I am going to try another that I have and see how long it lasts before it begins this problem. I said before that it only happened on line ... well I think it is starting to happen all the time unless I am playing a game. Then it seems to stay on. Go figure!
