Hey guys this is my first time on these forums and i have a problem that needs solving. this is the situitation...

I wanted to install a clean version on Windows 2000 on my computer so i made my bootable floppy disk and got my Windows 2000 CD.

I Booted the computer from Floppy and went into FDISK...
I deleted the Partitions and created a new Primary DOS Partition.

Next i used the format c: /s command to format the C:

When that was finished i re-booted and got into BIOS i selected to boot from CDROM and saved and exited.

When i re-booted the screen just said no Opperating System was found and a image of a floppy disk came up with an arrow going into the floppy drive if you get me, and it told me to press F1 to go throught the reboot sequence again.

Now i dont see where i went wrong so if anyone has any ideas on what i can do next or where i have gone wrong i would appreciate any help

Thanks in advance
Steve

Yep i did, the only thing else i could think is that the Windows Disk could be damaged but ive used it before and there is no scratches on it, its really confusing

If it try's to read the cd (cdrom line comes on during the boot) and then it says no O/S found, it will then go to the next boot device you selected in SETUP. Probably floppy. Then the CD itself is either dirty /scratched or the laser in the cdrom is dirty.

Try using a windows 98 boot disk to get to the A: prompt, it should load a cdrom driver and assign a driver letter to the cdrom (screen tells you), lets say it is "R", then at the A: prompt (put W2K CD in) go to that drive letter e.g.,

R (hit <enter>)
Setup (hit<enter>)

Ok i will try that in a sec, thanks for the help dude

Edit:

i booted from the win98 floopy disk and did the following:
F: <enter>
setup<enter>

and this is what it said: This program cannot be run in DOS mode.

Any suggestions what that would mean?

You have the Windows 2000 upgrade CD not the full install. Do you have any other windows versions on CD like "95" or "98", you can load that then within Windows use the W2K upgrade disk to upgrade.
