Hi!
I am having a problem with my computer rebooting when I go on-line. I use Office 2000 Outlook Express and Internet Explorer. On a Windows 98 system. It does not do this every time I log on but about every other time. I am not even sure if this a browser problem. I have tried reinstalling Windows 98. I've checked for Viruses and can't find any and I have also updated my virus scan. I am at a lost and need help cause this is a most annoying problem. It only ever happens when I log on. Please Help!! I am desperate.
If you require any more Info just let me know.
Thank you,
Lisa

Hello Lisa
And welcome to CTH
Have you tried to remove your modem physically and reset it in its slot some times problems like this can be something as easy as this.
or if you have a built in modem to the motherboard give us a description of your system.
thanks irons

Hi! Ironside
Thank you for your reply, I will try removing my modem tonight when I get home and let you know how it works. I was thinking I've just moved to BC in May and my computer never did that when I was in Ontario, It could be something got banged around in the move. Mind you, I never had an internet connection when I was in Ontario, and my computer is only a year old. So I'll give that a try,
Thank you,
Lisa

I finally found the time to move the modem, and I haven't used it long enough yet to see if it still re-boots but I will let you know if all goes in say about a week from now.
Thanks again,

lisa I would think it would be a modem problem, after all you did and it didnt fix it
maybe its time to change it,I really hate to say that, but Im at a loss I really cant think of anything else that would do that,I think what happens is the modem get busy and just shuts down.
well lets give it one more shot before we give up on it what brand and model number is it,I will see if there is any updates on the driver for you.
