Welcome to CTH gazftm, try this. Go to Start > Run and type the following lines and press Enter after each line:

regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

Click OK when you receive the message that "DllRegisterServer in FileName" succeeded.

Reboot and let us know if this helped.

Hi gazftm, this is a constant and ongoing problem Hotmail and there is no surefire fix. I'm going to transfer your thread to the Internet Forum, you might have more luck finding a solution there.

In the meantime, if you are running a firewall, try disabling it and see if you can now logon.

Hi,

I've had the exactly same problem with Hotmail. I called Microsoft helpline about it, but nothing they said worked. Of course they didn't tell me that I could always get another web browser.

I don't know a lot about computers, but I guess the problem is that we have deleted some virus-infected files that we should't have.

Is it possible to re-install explorer?

Hi treplev, I see that Mike is helping you to remove malware from your PC in the Cyber Safety Forum. Lets see what the situation is when your PC is clean. Post back then and let us know.

a few tips that usually work.

1-sometimes your IE is not configured for SSL (= secured) sites.
Try this link to determine whether or not you should make any changes:
http://www.verisign.com/advisor/check.html

2-make sure that 'cookies' are completly enabled.

otherwise it can be a firewall that prevents the access.

hope it worked...
