I'm new to Cyberhelp, so please forgive me if I'm not giving enough information, or too much!
When I try to open Outlook Express 5, it takes nearly 3 minutes to open. I can't figure out what's going on. There is a long delay for the splash screen, and a long delay for the app to open. Once I'm in, downloading e-mail is fine, but doing other things like exporting the address book, switching identities, or even opening a saved e-mail takes forever. All other programs on my PC (including other e-mail programs) run fine... even while I'm waiting for Outlook Express.
It seems to have started about the same time I installed Norton Internet Security. I've disabled NIS, and have now uninstalled it, and nothing seems to work. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook Express, and reinstalled Windows 98 in case something goofy was happening there.
This has happened before, but only while I had Netscape open. It was fine with IE. I uninstalled Netscape, and haven't had any more problems until recently.
I'm ready to quit using Outlook Express, but my wife really likes it, so I'd like to find a solution.
Background info:
System: HP Celeron 466 w/192M Ram
Internet Connection: AT&T Broadband
I'm using Windows 98, IE5.5, Outlook Express 5
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Rob
