Hi,
Can you enter windows in safe mode to uninstall IE5?

hi there junky.
uninstalling IE is not the kind of option that i would look at first.
i was considering a "over-the-top" installation of windows.
better maybe something like C:\windows\command\scanreg /restore and then restoring the files that have a success message with them....or is it this way:
boot to DOS and run C:\>scanreg /restore
and then choose the date before the problem began.
i'm not sure of the way it works but i've seem someone do something like that.
can you clear my doubt?

OK, here's some ways:
Start the computer and hold down the Crtr Key for win98 until a menu pops open. Choose Command Prompt. Then at the DOS prompt type scanreg /fix. See if that does any good before you try scanreg /restore.
Then you can download IE5.5 and install it. Hopefully that will do the job for you.
Good luck, and post back to lest us know how it's going. http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

You must not Install windows over top of itself with IE 5 or above installed. It must be uninstalled before you re-install windows or you are asking for much more trouble than you have now.
