Hi all
Hoping someone can help please. Currently have my pc (running Me) connected to my partner's pc (running XP) via a crossover cable, sharing the broadband connection, using ICS. My pc (Me) is the host and partner's (XP) is the client. The internet connection works fine, but we would like to share a printer, and a couple of folders between the two pc's.
Can anyone advise what settings would be required on both pc's please? So far, i've simply set the printer on my pc to share, (showing the hand below the icon). But not too sure what else to do next.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Many thanks,
Terry ;)

You are going to want to go to the XP's Printers folder via Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes. From there, click on Add Printer.
Navigate your way through the easy setup configurations.
Select "A Network Printer, or a Printer Attached to Another Computer". Click next.
Then select "Browse for a printer" and click next.
Find your other computer in the list and the printer should be listed beneath it, hightlight the printer you want to connect to and click Next.
Continue to navigate your way through the rest of the configuration settings as you wish, finish the wizard, and you may need to restart.
Print a test page, and be sure that your printer is set to default.
-------------------
To connect to shared folders on your other computer, open My Network Places and use the Add Network Place wizard to select the folders you wish to connect to.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Haven't been able to carry out your instructions as yet due to family illness. I'll definitely get back to you though to let you know how I get on.
Many thanks again,
Terry

Hi,
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Have followed the instructions give and get as far as "Browse For A Printer". at that point though, I only have one choice in the dialogue box, showing "Microsoft Windows Network" but when I click "Next" I'm getting a message stating I need to specify a valid network printer name. Can you suggest a next move at all please?
Thanks lots,
Terry

Terryyou could click on browse to find the printer. However, go to your printer in the main computer and see what name you gave it when you set it up to share.

Note: You will not be able to see a printer attached to the computer if you cannot see the computer itself from the other computer. The name of the PC that has the printer attached to it should be in the list when you browse your network for a printer. The printer itself would be listed just beneath the name of the computer it is attached to.
If you cannot see the printer or the computer it is attached to in the list, there is something wrong with the way your network is set up. Be sure you have the printer's PC set up to share files and folders, along with the shared printer itself. It may be necessary to install the printers drivers on both computers as well.

Hi,
Thanks again, and again sorry for taking so long to get back. As the Internet Connection Sharing is working ok, is it likely to be down to settings in one or the other pc that's causing neither pc from seeing the other? Not to sure what changes to make re IP addresses etc without upsetting the shared connection.
Much appreciated for your help.
