Hi

I just bought a couple of bluetooth belkin 802.11g wierless network sticks.

I had them working fine on a couple of pc (peer to peer) and sharing the internet via ics.

Heres my problem I atempeted to set up same for a friend with and asdl usb modem on broardband.

The main card either disrupts the adsl modem from startup or if pluged in after the modem conects it drops the modem conection and refuses to find "workgroup" network.

my Belkin card is set via prefrences to 192.168.0.1 sub net mask
255. 255.255.0 and 192.168.0.1 gateway.

I have little idea why the interfearence occurs and could do with some advice to save face with my friend.

Any answers...?

What is the IP of your friends external interface? If you ICS, the internal interface's IP will be set to 192.168.0.1. If the external IP is 192.168.0.x, you will have problems with using it. You will need to make sure that the internal and external interfaces are on different subnets.

Just curious, what belkin product are you using? Did you really mean 'bluetooth', or USB?

The cards don't know that there is no router so the can be set on peer to peer with ics to share the internet (even thouth it forgets to metion this on the box).

My home connection is "very good" and we are running halo online whilst surfing with no degridation.

If you want to know my setup let me know.

The point about the ip address is valid save the fact the modem has a dynamic ip set by the isp.

the current thinking is a power dip when pluging in the bluetooth stick is causing the loss of connectivity on the adsl modem.

OK, so your friends PC is getting a public IP, not a 192.168.0.x IP. Have you tried running ipconfig/all (from the command line) while both devices are plugged in. It will tell you the state and settings for both network devices?

Is your friends PC USB 1 or USB 2? I don't know enough of the electronics end of things to comment on the power drop. If was due to a power drain, I wonder if a powered USB hub would alleviate the problem.

Back to satisfying my curiosity, You say its BT. So it is a duelmode mode device (BT & 802.11g)? Can you tell me its model #, I'd like to take a peek at it. I' assume that since they are packing both together, they've take care of any interference issues between the BT & 11g.
