Trouble connecting to network drive...

Hello everyone. I am on campus and i am running a Netgear wgr614 v4 Wireless Router. When im in wirelss mode or connected through the router directly, it wont let me access my network drive via Map Network drive under my computer. When I'm directly connected to the port in the wall, i have no issue with mapping my network drive, i connect fine. I thought maybe it was because the router changes the ip address but im not sure. I disabled the firewall in my router, so i know thats not causing it. Any thought, thanks.

When you plug in the router, you are getting a new address. Your gateway then becomes your router. Problem is your router doesn't know about the server where the share is located that your are trying to map to.
If your trying to use the wireless router on a existing LAN, then you need to turn off DHCP on the router. Then, use a cross over cable (unless your router has an "uplink" port) to connect the router to the existing LAN. DON'T use the WAN port on the router (the one that is used for DSL/CABLE). Just plug the crossover cable into one of the four ports.
This way, your router acts as a wireless access point only.
