ok so I have a wireless linksys BEFW11S4 version 4 router. My main computer is a gateway that is running windows XP home edition. I have my xbox connected to the router also. For no aparent reason the router locks up on me and I have to unplug and plug it back in to get it work. It does this about every 20-40 minutes. I called Linksys tech support and my ISP about 5 times each and neither could help me with this problem. I set the MTI to 1400, I have WEP security enabled. I have the firmware updated, I even tried switching drivers for my intel Pro/100 VE network card on my gateway computer. I replaced the router to see if that was the problem but the same thing occured in the new one I got. Someone please help me this is really annoying. http://www.techsupportforum.com/images/smilies/1-cry.gif

First thing I would do is start at the bare minimum. Turn off WEP and any other security on your router. Disconnect the XBOX. Only thing should be connected is a computer, and your connection to the internet. Let it run like that for a while. If' it works ok, then turn the encryption back on (WEP). Try that for a while. Plug second PC in ..... Plug XBOX back in .......
You basically want to use a process of elimination to see what's causing the issue.
I had a router that I tried using WEP and it would constantly lock up after 30 min of inactivity. Mine however was a different brand. I finally figured out it was WEP, so disabled it. A few firmware revs later, I guess they fixed it, cause then it started working!

thanks for the suggestion. Actually on another Tech forum some guy suggested i try moving my router away from all the electronics around it, since they may be interfering with it and so far that has worked. If that stops working then I will try that, and there is also some other thing i could try too that someone else suggested so at least i have a few things to try.
