windows messenger problems

hi, i have just set up my network using 2 pc's, an adsl router. Everything
works fine apart form windows messenger which wont connect on either pc. I have
aol 9 running 512k broadband. can someone please tell me why messenger dont
work and how to fix it please? thanks a lot everyone.

p.s. windows messenger worked before the router was installed. I also heard somewhere that aol is different when it comes to networking, i am not sure why though. thanks again all
