Hi,
I have windows me. There are so many problem w/it I am sitting here crying b/c I have so much work to do. First of all it will not recognize a cd when I put in. When I Look in my computer it just shows a bucnch of program that are already on the computer. It will not let me add a printer therefore cannot print. I cannont shutdown or restart the computer. When I look in device mangaer there is a yellow mark on standard floppy disk controller, primary ide controller, and secondary ide controller. I click to update or add new hardware the computer just freezes or it tell me it already installed but it has a problem. I do not know how to fix this. If I could get it to recogize the system restoration kit cds, I could reinstall windows but it won't and I just don't know what to short of just trasing this Gateway and buy another.
Please help me.

Hi. Welcome to CTH.

You can download the files to create a Windows 98 boot diskette from http://www.bootdisk.com You may have to do this on another working computer. The computer you download it on does not need to have the same version of Windows. Once you have downloaded the boot diskette creation file, run that program and create the boot diskette. Then, you can use that boot diskette to boot your computer on DOS mode. The CD-ROM drive should be accessible, and you can re-install Windows using your CD's.
