Usenet binary problem

I'm trying to download and view usenet newsgroup binaries. Normally I have no problem, but occasionally I run into a group of files which I cannot open. An example is as follows:
2585 <Group> West Side Story [03/26]-wsstory03.jpg [1/1]
When I try to open this I get an error message "could only find 1 of 26 binary files......" If I highlight all 26 files and retrieve them, when I try to launch the attachments, I get a message "cannot find any binary attachments......"
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I have no problem retrieving and launching individual binaries. I'm running Windows NT, accessing newsgroups through Forte free agent, and opening binaries with Paint Shop Pro 5.

Thanks

Hi Smokey, welcome to CTH

I've not really used usenet myself, but I know certain news servers don't have access to binary groups, perhaps the server you're using is configured to only let you download one at a time?

Hi Steven

Thanks for your reply. I do have access to the newsgroups I'm interested in and have downloaded binary files from them (singly or in groups of single files) the only problem is with designated groups (3/26--as in my example). If my server will only let me download singles, how can I confirm this? By server, do you mean my ISP (Compuserve) or the newsgroup engine (Forte Free agent)?

Thanks for your help.

Smokey

I was meaning the nntp server but as I said usenet isn't my thing

It could just be that one of the servers that you're using is having temporary problems? You can try looking in one of the help newsgroups which may have info on this, news.announce maybe
