Hi dp, sorry about the wait.
Lets see if we can get your problem worked out. First, I want to make sure I understand the current state of your systems.
When you said And both computers are on line and I can see the C: & D: drives of other on both, yet no access and this error Message How (where) are you seeing the C&D drives from the other machine?
Also, what are you doing when you get the error?\\*\C: not available-Contact Admin. for this server
Lastly, any information you can tell me about the steps you've done so far to share the folders will help.

Hi Z1P, Tnx 4 Ur Reply!!
How (where) are you seeing the C&D drives from the other machine?
In the Explore Window. It might be from a prior viewing, as neither C:\ or D:\ show sharing (The Hand Beneath.) of the other computer, from either one.
Also, what are you doing when you get the error?
I just click on the D:\ drive of other computer in the Explore Window and after 15 sec. +/- I get the error.
any information you can tell me about the steps you've done so far to share the folders will help.
In Explore Window I click on Drive D:\, then Properties and then "Sharing Tab", then @ "Network Sharing and security, I check both boxes, i.e. Share this folder on the Network and Allow network users to change my files.
1. N O T E ! that both D:\ Drives show Sharing (Hand) on their respective Computers.
2. N O T E ! That both computers show "Stealth" from "http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2"
Again Tnk U for the reply, dp

Hi dp, sorry for the lag, but I had a busy weekend.
Let's go forward trying to get the D: drives shared both ways, then we can deal with the C:'s if they still don't work. If you need help on any of the steps, post back and I'll give more details.
On both machines...
Verify your network protocols (link to MS site (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318030))
Verify that the 'Computer Browser' service is set to automatic
Check your 'simple file sharing' setting (link to MS site (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304040) )
Verify that the D: drive is shared.
Is it working now?
Do you have XP SP2 installed?
Do you have a software fire installed and running?
