View Full Version : Wireless networking, poor signal

i just set up a wireless network a few days ago, and i get a very low signal all the time, the router is exactly right below me on the lower floor (2 story house) i measured when i was trouble shooting, but my friend next door has a linksys router and when i connect to his network i get a great signal, i have a motorolla router and pci card. running windows xp.

any ideas?

What type of wireless router 802.11b or 802.11g?

Check the Channell your running on.
Check the Antenna Transmit Power, If you have access to that setting
Have you any HF Equipment between you and the router. (I did some work on a new building and found that the signal was dampend by the steel structure, worked fine in the old part of the building but not the new part.)
Check your Trx/Rcx Setting Ad-Hoc / Infursturcture / Speed
