Cant delete!!!!

Hi everyone its my first time using this forum so Ill try to explain my problem as simply as posible when i go to c:\_RESTORE\TEMP I have over 10gb of files in there and it wont let me delete them it says that the source file may be in use. I also used limewire to download something for my friend and this 12kb file multyplied itself into heaps of files and spread themselves all over my computer I do not want to reformat because I do not enjoy putting all my programs on again.

Hi its me here I just wanted to say that by re-installing Windows ME fixes the 10gb problem (just thought I'd mention that not so as not to waste anyones time thankyou)

Welcome :)

The _RESTORE folder is for the System Restore tool.

It's usually a good idea to keep system restore enabled as it can be a good help if you need to restore your PC to a previous time.


Self duplicating files/folders sounds like a virus.

Have you run virus and spyware scans?

how to clean out your restore folder to gain more space - make sure your computer is clean of all viruses and spyware, disable your system restore, reboot, enable your system restore, then create a new restore point. You should not be using as much space in your system restore folder now.

Hi thanks for your help I do have the trial Version of Trend Micro PC-cillin but after it has finished scanning the options to clean, delete and quarantine are all grey out is that because it automatically quarantine the files because if so how do I change it so that it deletes them straight away?
