I upgraded a pc from ME to 2000 pro. Everything seemed to go well. Now, none of the user's profile/settings/programs are available. I cannot log on as administrator (no opportunity was given to setup a password) and the user is not setup as an administrator. Is there any way I can recover the user's settings? Is there any way I can recover or reset the administator's password?

Thanks

Welcome :)

It is not possible to upgrade from Windows Millenium Edition to Windows 2000 Professional.

The install would not keep any previous system settings or user accounts.

Is there any way to uninstall at this point?

Nope, Windows 2000 can not be uninstalled.

You would have to format the drive or delete the relevant OS files & folders

Would upgrading to XP pro help? Might it grab any "leftover" profile info and make use of it?

Not really as it would be taking the info from 2000 not ME.

All I can think of is if you manually search through the folders for any files/folders that you could keep and save to disk.

The ME Profile folders may still be on the drive. This is if the Win2000 install did not format the drive before it's install.

You could also try a Data Recovery program
