View Full Version : Shortcut icons overlapped with recycle bin icon?

My shortcut icons load properly, but a recycle bin icon loads on top of it, so it looks like the recycle bin icon with the correct one on the bottom of it. This is on ALL my shortcuts.

I've tried changing the icons via the shortcut properties, but it didn't work; running registry mechanic didn't either.

this is getting pretty frustrating I can't think of anything else.
Anyone got ideas?

Thanks

Hi Yuen47

Try this, In the C:\Windows folder locate the "ShellIconCache" file and delete it.
Windows will rebuild the icons when you restart the computer.

ShellIconCache is a hidden file. To unhide it, in Explorer click
Tools/Folder Options and View. Dot the button beside "Show hidden files and folders"
and click Apply.

Oh thanks a lot, that worked PERFECTLY, I had no idea how you did that. I also had some wrong icons in the wrong places...and that fixed it too.

Thanks a lot!
