Exception OE error occured in VxD VFat

When I boot up my computer I get the following blue screen error:

"An exception OE has occurred at 0028:C004C715 in VxD VFat (01) + 0000CC25. This was called from 0028:C182A6BO in VxD voltrack (04) + 00000430. It may be possible to continue normally. *Press any key to attempt to continue/*Press CTL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer. You will lose any unsaved information in all applications. Press any key to continue."

If I press any key to continue I will get the system is busy blue screen error:

"The system is busy waiting for the close program dialog box to be displayed. You can wait and see if it's appears, or you can restart your computer. *Press any key to return to windows and wait/*Press CLT + ALT + DEL again to restart your computer. You will lose unsaved infomation in all programs that are running. Press any key to continue."

If I wait nothing happens or If I press CLT + ALT + DEL the computer will restart and this same process will start over again.

Please advise....

Welcome to CTH cadatone. Have you recently installed Nero or other burning software? Can you boot into Safe Mode (restart your PC and tap F8 as it restarts)?

Yes, I did install Nero. I purchased a DVD+RW drive and installed it and it came with an OEM Nero Version 6. After I installed this my computer started getting this message. No, I have not tried booting up in the safe mode. I have tried unplugging the computer and tried to create a boot disk but the computer just seems to lock up. What do you suggest?

Well try booting into Safe Mode before we go any further. If you get into Safe Mode, you can uninstall Nero from Add/Remove Programs and hopefully that will fix your problem.

Didn't Fix VxD Error

Hi,

I booted up in safe mode and uninstalled Nero and Realplayer (which was not responding on startup) but could not fix error problem. Now I can click on any icon but it will just stall instead of proceeding. Please advise and I really thank you for your help.

This article from Microsoft's Knowledge Base may help you solve your problem. Additionally, this website links to seventy-two Microsoft Knowledge Base articles that address specific Fatal Exception 0E errors. It also mentions several other issues that may cause Fatal Exception 0E errors. There used to be a Knowledge Base article that applied to Windows ME specifically but the link appears not to be valid anymore. I have tried hunting around Microsoft for it but I've yet to find it. Even though the article I did link to applied to Windows 95, 98 and 98SE, perhaps it may provide useful.

I hope this information helps you, please let us know how things go.

Thanks for trying to help Vittra but as those hotfixes are for Win95 and Win98, I think I would be more inclined to recommend trying a System Restore first, see here. Try Safe Mode if you cannot restore in normal mode.

Thanks I will try to restore tommorrow. I'm e-mailing from work so it will be a couple of days before I return with a follow-up. Thanks for all your suggestions and have a safe holiday weekend.
