This is a question, more than a problem.....

I am trying to set permissions on a certain folder that can be acessed with full control by some people and only read permissions by others..... Here's the problem though..... On a different document in the office a person has the file password protected and when you access the file a prompt box for the password opens up, if you don't enter the password, you can click on read-only.... how do I get this prompt box to pop up?

The file has been saved with the ability for read-only access.

You would have to re-save the file adding the full security password.

Soz, 2000 server OS. Once the file is re-saved, how do I add the password? Stupid question I'm sure : -)

Choose Save As, then Tools

The option to set a password is there.
In Office XP it's under Security.
