View Full Version : Word and printer crashing my computer?!

Hey, recently my computer's been acting up again. Figures. I'm not sure what someone in my family did, but I seem to have a problem accessing any documents from Microsoft Word or WordPad. What would happen is: I'd double click on a document to open it up, it'd open up, but when I go to scroll or do anything at all I get the time cursor thingy for a couple seconds and then the computer completely freezes. If I actually remain patient and keep Ctrl + Alt + Deleting, I'll eventually get a blue screen error message stating that the "system is busy." One time it read "Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer. System halted."

I think it may have something to do with the printer (EPSON Photo 820) because I cannot print anything without it freezing and whenever I try to do anything with Epson (i.e. highlight any file with the name "Epson" or in the Epson folder, remove Epson hardware, etc.) the computer crashes.

This is pretty ridiculous, and unfortunately I can't save my HijackThis log to copy and paste in here because the computer will freeze when I try to open the document. This sucks because I need my college applications done...
someone please help.

I don't have a previously restored save point.

Plus I noticed that there are now TMP Files next to some of my saved documents in my folder.

Another thing I tried was Ad-aware and a couple other spyware/adware scans. It gets to a certain point on the C: drive (about where the Epson files and folders are) and the system freezes.
Such a pain. I appreciate any help.

try deleting the files in your temporary folder (not temporary internet folder)
