need help with networking PC's

hi CTH staff :michaelan i got two PC's one is on XP and one is on Windows 98, i got the wire connected to both network cards but i cant get them to log on can someone please help, thanx in advance :wave:

Are the PC's on the Same Workgroup?
Do you have any Firewalls?

What errors are you getting?


Is it XP Pro or Home?

Do you have ICS (Internet connection sharing) enabled?

Yes what sort of "wire" are we talking about here? Are you trying to connect two computer together directly or are you using a router or switch or what? Knowing your network layout will help alot to find a fix for you.
