help with WAP/router LAN issues
Ok, I bought a NetworkAnywhere 4 port router/WAP a few weekends ago and I've been trying to get this up and running on my own but I'm at the point where I need some pointers to get this working the way I would like it to work.
DSL modem connected into router and main WinXP Home PC connected to router via ethernet. Second PC running Win98 SE and using a wireless card (bought router and PCMCIA card as a combo). Internet working okay on both PCs. The problem is sharing a printer and files. I can't seem to get this to work. I have MS client running on both and using the same logon and password on both machines with the same workgroup. I can't see one PC from the other. Do I need a second NIC or what is the deal here? One thing I've noticed when I do an ipconfig /all on the 98 PC is that the subnet is set to 255.0.0.0 and the other PC is set to 255.255.255.0. I've got the 98 PC set to DHCP with the router as providing the addresses but I don't understand why it's getting this mask. Can someone give me a hand here? TIA for any help. |
