I am networking two windows XP's (home edition) and #1 has a wireless linksys router and comcast working. #2 has a wireless G reciever and can acess the internet and play lan games through the LAN ip adress....however the "shared" documents folder isnt showing changes in both computers and when you click "view workgroup computers" in network places,#2 it locks up for a minute and an error pops up...#1 it locks up for a minute then only displayes itself...also the file and printer sharing are both turned on
*in the network neighboor hood the LAN cable is unplugged but the reciever connection is ok....how do i transfer this?*
Computers-2 XP home
Router stuff-wireless linksys router/wireless G reciever
Firewall-#1 has SP2 (window firewall)
(#1/#2 both have the connections firewalled in the 'my network places')

What is the Error message?
Have you tried disabling the firewalls?

I will try disabling the firewalls, and also after like 30 mins or a long duration of time the #2 loses connection to the router and says "Wireless connection may have limited connectivity" in the bottom right where the one computer is with the green radar wave pulsing out (the wirelss connection)

well #1 can see #2 in my network places>view workgroup computers (and when i click on workgroup computers i get results in 5 seconds)
on #2 when i click my network places>view workgroup computers it takes about 20-30 seconds and then says (my LAN name here (SSID)) is not accesable
so should i change the SSID or Workgroup) in the "set up a home/small office network" to the same thing on both computers? i thought it was the same though....

If you have disable the SP2 firewall and the ICFW on the other machine, I would run the home network setup wizard. Also, on your SP2 machine go to the network adapter in question and check the properties/advanced/settings/advanced tab. You should see flags for each connection that the firewall applies. Make sure that all of those are UNflagged in addition to the firewall being turned off. I have seen these flags still affect the SP2 firewall status even though it is turned off. As a note, if you do not have a hardware firewall I do not recommend turning the ICFW or SP2 FW off. You have one so should be cool but wanted to clarify. If you do not have a hw firewall you can configure exceptions in the SP2 machine to allow file and print sharing...
