Freezes at StartUp Screen WINNT

Well it happens a lot now. I have no idea as to what the problem could be. I've reformated the drive like 2 times and still manages to freeze up. A friend of our family's (who is a computer science professor at the college) says the problem could be in the boot sector of the drive. At this point I have no idea what to do or try to do. Any help would be appreciated.

And as you can see I'm no computer wiz.

Asper,
Have you tried to boot it into safe mode at all? Start tapping the F8 key right after the computer comes on and pick "Safe Mode". If the computer will boot into safe mode but won't boot into normal mode then we can go from there. Post back and tell us how it goes. Good luck and we are here to help.
