Hi
I have a server running NT4.0 & was wondering if theres a way I can get reports on dial in activity ? I have about thirty users all dialling in at random points during the day & would like a log. Im sure NT does this as a service ????
Incidentally, the server is a Compaq ML370! ANy help would be greatly appreciated!

I have used the 'record log' function in modem properties & im aware it stores a basic log in %systemroot% but is there any third party applications that can provide me with much more detail!?

You might find something here (http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/network/fwnetmoni.html). Or the main site is here (http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html). The links are to all free applications. Some of them have an option to upgrade to a Pro version for a fee.

Thankyou very much for your help! Most appreciated! However, I have & do use Snapfiles for quite a lot of things. Perhaps it will help if I explain some more. I suspect some of my users are spending inordinate amounts of time connected to the server tying up the single line modem for other users. To get access, each user authenticates onto my domain with a username & password, it would be nice to see at-a-glance whos logged in , when & for how long! Somewhere buried in NT is the ability to do this ( and its not from the modem log ) I found it by accident a while ago but cant seem to find it again. Searches in Google & reading the NTusere manual, & visiting forums have proved no joy!:erm: :cry2:

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for or not, but in the control panel if you click on Server->Users it looks like you can find out who's connected, what station they are connected from, how long connected, and how long they have been idle. Of course that's only for actively monitoring and it sounds like you need a log file to show this info...

yeah your spot on ! Active monitoring isnt really any help as I can do that anyway. I need a report of some sort, basically, someones dialling in & doing something they shouldnt be doing but I need to gather a little more evidence first you see! I need to stop my server from being :owned:
