Hi,
I have only a floppy drive. I need to load a Browser. I found a 1.45 MB called SlimBrowser. I can't copy it to a Floppy tho. Any ideas? If I did a direct connect what cable would I need?
W98SE 1.5GHD,32mB of RAM
Thanks,

Welcome :)
Do you want a browser to fit on a floppy or are you just trying to install a full working browser?
You can download a standalone version of IE3 from here
http://www.skyzyx.com/downloads/
It is about 1mb
If you want a full browser then look into splitting a file.
Programs such as Winzip will allow you to span a zip file over several floppies.
Or you can use a program such as HJSplit to split a file into sections, then rejoin it at the other end.

Also look here for other browsers.
There are a few at 1.1mb

Hi,
Degsy. I will keep to the post.
I downloaded Avant Browser but I get an "Illegal Operation " error when I try to use it. Any ideas? I have 48MB of RAM and only have a floppy drive.

Does the PC have any version of IE installed?
Avant may require IE files.
You could try installing a Mozilla type browser.

I have IE 4.0 but I get the same error. I am trying to figure out how to use Winzip to split a file and put it on floppies. I have Firefox.

Try HJSplit. I use it all the time.

Hi,
I used WinZip -self extractor to put Foxfire.9.3 onto 2 floppies and also IE6.0
They are both on the Armada but I still get "Illegal Operation" Any ideas?

Did you install the browsers?
IE6 would need to be installed properly. You can do this via the 400k internet setup.
The full setup is 70mb.

Yes I installed the Avant and the Foxfire. but IE6.0 won't connect to download it but I still get the same error again "Illegal Operation". I am running at 28,800bps dial up. I can connect to the Internet but no browser.

May I ask that if the OS is Win98SE then was IE5 already instlled?
You get illegal operations when trying to install Slimbrowser and Mozilla?

Hi,
IE5 is not in the Add/Remove programs. It must have been deleted. I am running W98SE.

I'm not sure why you would get errors trying to install different browsers.
It may be a more serious error in the OS. Sorry :(
