I was playing with the registry, (not a good thing) and now my computer will not shut down automatically. I press Start, Shutdown, or Restart and it hangs up with the red light on. Any ideas??

Try rebooting but whilst doing so press "F8" as if you were going into "Safemode" but go for the option:
"Last Known Good Configuration", hopefully that will cure your problem. :)

Tried the F8 and did not work. Still not shutting down properly.
