Hi:
Trying to format a fat32 drive. while running fdisk and wanting to delete primary dos partition on 20 GB drive, the volume label is filled with some character set i am not familiar with and since i can't type it in it says volume label does not match. Also tried running 98 setup on that partition and it says it cannot format the drive because of a problem w/ the primary dos partition. the volume label is this: />-SO+¦AG♥+ I have no idea where this came from. Any ideas? ( I tried entering the above in fdisk but can't even enter the "/") Any help is greatly appreiciated Thanx |

Welcome
![]() You may want to goto the HDD Manufacturers website. Their disk tools should help you repartition and format the drive.

Have you gone past the point of getting your system to boot to dos?
If not, at c prompt, type label This brings a menu to put in a label name or just leave it blank. You could also use a flop that has label.exe on it and type a:label c: and do same as above. Looks like you either got a virus or disk may be failing. Good luck. BD
