Weird IE/Outlook Express Problem
uhh this is my first post here, i was told by randy48 that you guys probably could help. i think this topic would fit in here, but if not please move,it thanks!
first off i'm running windows 2000 professional,450 PII, 256 ram. ok since last week, i've been getting this weird internet explorer problem. i can browse sites and all fine, but then say i want to login into hotmail, yahoo, techimo or do a search @ altavista... i type in what i want to type in and then it freezes on me for about 2-3 mins then it will become responsive, but it will freeze backup the next text box i enter into... i dont know what is causing the problem... now with outlook express it's just weird...since last week it takes like 3 mins to load up and pop up on my screen,it works fine, it just take a while to load...i could have nothing running in the background and it will stay take 3 minutes to load... I've even download ie 6.0 and the new outlook , no help, same problem... then i tried uninstalling ie 6.0 back to 5.5 to see if that would work, and it's a no go... i'm using netscape right now, which i REALLY dont like ![]() my friend has the exact same problem with his win98 machine, but i havent downloaded anything off of him so i dont know how i could have gotten it. i've run 4 virus scans, scan disk, defrag, i tried the tool repair but it just takes forever to load my desktop on restart,so i have to end task ie4unit.exe(the repair executable.) i'm out of ideas... any solutions?!?

I had the same problem and tried the same fixes plus sevaral others and nothing worked.
Here's a list of things that didn't work. Repaired IE5.5 Reinstalled IE5.5 Turned off Auto Complete Turned off Password saving Installed IE6 Repaired IE6 Reverted IE5 Repaired IE5 again Reinstalled IE5 again Didn't try SFC to replace corrupted files but that's a big pain after all the updates are in place. Finally had to format and reinstall Win2k to fix this problem

Hi, here`s a link:
Mishys Cyber Tech Help antivirus link to Micro Trend`s HOUSECALL: http://www.cybertechhelp.com/html/av.shtml Click on the "Free Online Virus Scan" Have you tried this antivirus scan. Quote: "so i have to end task ie4unit.exe(the repair executable.)" I don`t think 'Ie4uinit.exe' ( Is this the correct spelling ?)is the Ie Repair Tool program. Have seen IE4UINIT.EXE associated to W32/Magistr.a@MM More info here
