I have a video file (.avi) on my computer here at work that I want to get to my home computer. The file size is 799mb and I want to fit it onto a 700mb cd-r. The only burning software I have here at work is Sonic RecordNow. Does anybody have an idea how to do this? :dizzy:

Heya - One way would be for you to use any utility that can chop the file up into 2 smaller pieces, and then to burn 2 cds, and reassemble them on the other PC.
I would suggest WinRar (Their website is their name then dot com, they have a free evaluation version, last time I checked.)
The reasons I suggest Winrar are that it not only can help you make a multi file archive, it is, in my humble opinion, the best compression utility out there.
And....since you would have to learn how to use whatever program you use to chop it up, why not make it one that you will probably want to use in the future?
Good luck.

Thanks for the speedy reply, I've downloaded winrar and I'm in the middle of doing what you suggested. I'll post back later to let you know if it worked. Thanks! :rotflmao:

Or another way if you have internet access at your workplace, would be to use an FTP Server like this freebie...

The winrar method worked perfectly. It took a little time but it got the job done. Thank you! I considered the other method suggested by you lufbra but it seemed a little complicated for me and I had no idea what to do. Thanks anyway! :rotflmao:
