Hard drive help needed

I have put in a new hard drive seagate 8.4 into an hp pavilion desktop 8380 and i have tried to seagate wizard and also with out and no luck what happens is when i try to fdisk it goes as far as i think it said checking intrgrty of drive and freezes at 0% what should i do and how any help will help, This is the 1st drive i am tring

Firstly check that you have installed the drive correctly.
Secure connections and the correct jumper setting.


You may want to try the Seagate tools to partition and format the drive and also maybe the Diagnostics to make sure the drive is in working order.
