Can't open an application

I have an electronics catalogue on my PC, installed from a CD that has been working fine for months. Today I tried to run it and I get the mesage:

C:\WINNIT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT the systems file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Mircrosoft Windows Applications. 'Close' to terminate the application.

I have uninstalled the application and re-installed it but the problem is still there.

I have also run my antivirus (AVG), Ad-aware, Spybot, and Spyware Blaster but nothing suspicious has come up.

Any ideas anybody?

Assuming you're running XP, go to this page, scroll down to and download "XPFix.exe." Follow the directions on that page to use it and it should fix things for you.

Sorry Miz. I forgot to add that I am using W2K Pro. There are no other problems as far as I can tell.

Thanks Degsy. You have got me out of a hole once again!

And so easy too! Now for an evening of browsing that Farnell catalogue!
