IE6 upgrade broke WindowsME

I just downloaded IE6 to my WindowsME machine, and now every time I try to look at www.google.com, IE6 crashes. Also, I can't even look at the Control Panel now; I get an error message, and the Control Panel window is blank.

Any ideas on how to get my system back into
a reasonable state, without reinstalling
Windows?

hi rdm70
since you can't get into control panel to use the IE repair tool try this.

go to the MS windows update site...
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

click on "product updates" and when it shows the available updates, click on "show installed updates"

now scroll down to IE6 and click on "uninstall".
it will give you the option to go back to the previous version.

good luck

Hi there.
Open "My Computer"
Open C: drive, Windows, System folder

Find appwiz.cpl and open it - see if your add/remove programs control panel applet still works.
Try an IE repair or uninstall.
