Okay..buddy and I made up a video of my wifes sisters wedding. Using a peer to mail program we were able to fire everything back and forth to each other.. Finally finished the movie......looks great on the computer, prob, not everyone has a computer. So I took the mpeg file and put it thru Nero 6. Sounded and looked good on the computer.put it on the home theater system.....awesome picture......dead silence.no sound.
Are we missing something? We are both rookies at this so it could be anything...
All help appreciated, especially from the non computer using family members.

open nero 6 select
Super Video CD (SVCD)
depending on your location you may need to change between
NTSC (North America)
PAL (Europe)
Drag media onto Videos/ Pictures let Nero convert then burn

okay..svcd is to small..the vid is almost 1.5 hrs long, to be exact..1688.8 megs. Thats why we were looking to put it on a dvd. So how do we cut this thing to put it on 2 discs, unless there is a way to get this sucker onto a dvd, with audio. Time to go a searching...must have missed something.....now where are those tutorials??

Every try making an actual DVD it takes around 30 min of your time 1-2 hours of computers time and burning time.
Assuming you bought the nero suite it comes with a program called NeroVision Express.
select Make DVD> DVD-Video> select add video files>select video file duh> Wait a few seconds
Choice
Make chapters - will give u preview and select chapter names and where they start.
Next - no chapters just one movie with no skipping ahead allowed.
Enter title into header> select Edit menu
choices
Layout for how many chapters you made
Background (suggestion 800x600 image wont get all of it on some tv's)
Buttons, Font, Header/Foter text - self explanatory
Shadows, Automatization, Interaction colours - Unless you want to don't worry about it.
Next, may want to save template, Next, play around if you want on controller, Next
Burn to> choose recorder
Volume Name> "write something no spaces allowed I think or quotes"
more on bottom to see> Video options
NTSC (America) PAL (Europe) Note some fancy tv's will use PAL in america.
DVD-Video tab from the top
Automatic
Automatic
Progressive
not selectable
not selectable
High Quality 2 pass VBR
Dolby Digital(AC3) 2.0
ok
BURN> Make sure a DVD is in drive to be written and walk away for 1-3 hours.
OR...
Download an avi, mpeg, multiple other file extension splitter
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=video+splitter&meta=
and cut it in two pieces then make 2 SVCD cd's.
