Norton Systemworks 2005

I bought and downloaded Norton SystemWorks 2005 from Symantec's website.
After installing and rebooting i get the following error message:
A necessary file could not be loaded:
C:\progra~1\norton~1\norton~3\navoptrf.dll.
1002,1
When I close that error box I get another one that says:
Norton AntiVirus has encountered an internal program error. Uninstall and reinstall Noron AntiVirus.
3030,27

I have uninstalled and reinstalled four different times. Nothing seems to work!
The program is still running and asks me to activate.
I didn't want to activate it if it was not going to work, but do you think that activating would help?
Any assistance would be greatly appricated.
Thanks

BTW: I have windows98. I have scanned for virus' from 3 different online sites and nothing was found.

As I said ace utilities will clean the registry. There might be something there that is giving nortons fits. Click on the link in my signature and read what it does. There is a 30 day free uncrippled trial.
