Hey,

Anyone that's ever created a webpage/site will have one time or another most likely had problems with Netscape !!

Being one of the browsers that pay the most attention to how well your HTML is actually written it is very important to get it right.

So here's a link that Website Rob gave me - it's a link to an HTML validator.

You simply put the link to your webpage/site in the form field, and it will check your HTML for you and tell you what is wrong with it http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Enjoy !!

Ah well, Netscape's a dying browser anyhows
I would add: Not as long as IE is been properly transported to Unix/Mac-based systems.

Careless webdesign, just simply annoys all the non IE-users.
I work in an environment of about 350 unix only users and about 1000 NT users. The only across working platform is NS.
Just my 2 cents http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

lol Herb. I was joking mate http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif A lot of web designers have problems with Netscape because there are some things it just cannot do.

On the plus side of Netscape it sure is a good test of someones HTML http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

But in the long term I think it will be swallowed up like everything else has been by M$.

"Netscape's a dying browser." ——— Shame on you Mishy! http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

It's alive and well. If IE wasn't installed on all those Windows systems I'm sure NS would be more widely used. Truth is 80% of all users simply use what's put in front of them.

Truth is MS always wants to set their own standards for things. If they were a bit more coperative both browsers would be very similar. So you can blame the differences primarily on MS and IE. If they didn't horde info and were willing to conform more to WWW Consordium standards things would be a lot easier cross browser.

One way around some of those error is to always quote attibutes whether they need it or not, and to always use hex values for colors not the names.

I'm gunna go play with my Netscape now! Yippeeeee! http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Bill, you have to add a ....

alt=""

What is inside the "" is what when someone hovers their mouse over your picture will see.

Netscape - well I have to admit I am getting quite attached to it after my recent tribulations with the new front page I've designed (to be uploaded tomorrow http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif )

Some sides of it are excellent for sure, and Buzz you're right about M$ monopoly dictating now what the standards are.

But IE is more versatile and "forgiving" which is why a lot of web designers prefer it.

Netscape's volunteer coders spent the better part of a year trying to get Netscape's code in shape before they simply gave up. They *threw the old code away* (that's how bad it was!) and started over from scratch. Two years have since passed, and the results--- which will be called "Mozilla 5" by some and which Netscape will call "Netscape 6"--- is in its final or near-final beta. When it's finally released, it will be about three years later than originally promised.

I have used both and hate them both. http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Of course I still think that MSIE is the best free browser in the world. No sense putting Ford parts on a Chevy.

Yeah, go iCab!

W3C also has nice HTML/XHTML and CSS validators last time I checked. XHTML 1.0 (aka. HTML 5.0) is the new language that is going to replace HTML. The validator now validate everything according to XHTML 1.0 standards. That can be sometimes confusing as XHTML and HTML are somewhat different. Not sure if any browsers support XHTML, so I'm not changing anything just yet. http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

yeah XML/XHTML are cool.. I think IE5 is supporting it somewhat and NS6 will as well.. But you are right it's still a couple of years down the line before it's in wide-spead use.
