A question or two now that I've finally figured out how to do this!! Is there an easy way to upload to a server, by folder rather than by file? The file way takes forever! And is there some way to save favorite images somewhere so I don't have to return to the server everytime I want to use them, smilies for example. Thanks....with some luck, infinite patience and the help of great people I may even attempt a web page!!! <IMG SRC="http://members.home.net/basandulac/smilies/wavey.gif" border=0>

Hello ther Odd One! I'm going to have to cleanmy modem to get all the sap out of it after loading that image! http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Youcan upload folders with an FTP client such as Fetch or Transmit. Unfortunately most if not all of the free web servers out there do not allow ftp access. Generally you have to pay for a host somewhere if you want ftp access. Sites like www.freedrive.com (http://www.freedrive.com) or www.xdrive.com (http://www.xdrive.com) will let you upload multiple files at once but still no ftp acress.

The only way to get around going back to the server each time is to actually know the path to the image. If you know the url to get to the image you can just type it in. Other than that you do need to go back to the server to do the "Copy image location" thing. Sorry.

Hi there Audone!
Yep..Everything Buzz said (&lt;-wrote). One thing that I do,as far as the url/address thing is "which Buzz mentioned" is when you upload the file, copy the url of that file. Then put it in
something like notepad or simpletext etc.
BTW---Very nice gif.... http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

BTW two--Buzz...Great sig!!! Next year hah.?.

uhmmmmm.. no not next year. Frogpile is not my work. The host that I registered the domain through decided to get a couple days advertising out of the URL without my concent. I don't support frogpile and have absolutely nothing to do with it. The site should be switched Monday, Oct 23 sometime.

Audone,

You may want to try http://www.virtualave.net
or http://www.hypermart.com as they provide free FTP access and a CGI-BIN if you're ever going to need one http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Buzz,

I think they're pretty much the only 2 left that do mate.

I have heard rumours of hypermart in the future closing non-business sites on their free servers (and they don't take kindly to UBB being on them). But virtualave is cool.

If you wanted to use either to actually host a page there is a HTML tag to make the banner reside on the page instead of as an annoying popup http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

You guys truly amaze me with your knowledge!! Now I know I'm not supposed to be surprised by things that occur in everyday life, right?? But I really didn't expect so many good replies! Mishy, I will try those 2 sites when I get a minute....or 30 or 40! It took me so long to figure out how to post those images, that I suspect my learning curve just took a quantum leap! Thanks muchly!!

Sorry about your messy computer Buzz....I'd offer to clean it, but that would mean you'd end up with a REAL mess!

Bill...I started putting them in notepad, worked fine, but then I tried to copy them from there.....uh huh....doesn't work!! But just having the URLs handy will help!
