I have downloaded Firefox 1.0 and I want to delete the Internet Expolrer to get rid of all the pop ups. Everytime I try to remove the program it tells me it is in use. I closed all the windows and then tried to delete it straight from the hard drive. And it still tells me that it is in use. Does anyone have an answer!

The easiest way to get rid of the popups is to download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot (http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=SPYBOT&tg=dl-2001&search=+Go%21+) and/or Ad-Aware (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button). Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.

Uninstalling Internet Explorer is possible but not advisable. It's an integral part of the operating system and you will need it for some websites. I use Firefox and there are just some sites, Windows update being one of them, that just won't work with Firefox.

in msie, go to tools - popup blocker and make sure it is turned on. If it is, post a copy of your hijackthis log per this thread (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37546).
