Virtualave (http://www.virtualave.net) do, I'm pretty sure Prohosting (http://free.prohosting.com/), Netfirms (http://www.netfirms.com/home) do, and Spaceports (http://www.spaceports.com/)

That's about all of the ones I know.

They're all free but you'd have to live with one banner ad I believe.

Well I set an ikonboard up for a friend on Netfirms so I know they work fine on them. But any webhost that supports cgi will be fine for your needs.

Remember to keep uptodate with the ikonboard patches because new security holes are found regularly, and also new features added :)

Was it easy to install at Net Firms because I simply can't do it at hypermart.

I've installed ikonboard at www.f2s.com (http://www.f2s.com) which is free and advert-less but there's a minor annoyance with their server. The IP logging only works if you do a find and replace through the IB files and swap REMOTE_ADDR for HTTP_X_REQUESTED_FOR

something to do with the server running a proxy as well.

Do you think a UBB will work on any of those?

Yeah UBB shouldn't be a problem.

If you're going to buy the full version hold off a bit, there's a pretty good chance of an update being imminent to fix a bug that causes problems with IE on Macs...

or there'd better be a fix imminent ;)

A UBB could theoretically work on one of those however most free hosts shut down UBBs because they give too much server load and bandwidth.

I have seen UBB's hosted by hypermart etc. but again most of them got shut down with little if no notice at all given to their owner.

Personally I wouldn't run a UBB on a freehost.

To be honest if you're going to spend the $250 for a non-business licence UBB (which I'm guessing your site would be) then it isn't that much more to get it hosted by a professional hosting company. Around the $30+ a month mark depending on server features.

Just an addition if you're intending to purchase the UBB I would install a previous version than v6 simply because v6 has a very different method of storing messages, and infact is a complete rewrite of the v5 code.

The way it now deals with the messages would make it totally unsuitable for a freehost.

I know of some that still coA
