see this (http://www.nlectc.org/txtfiles/batteryguide/ba-type.htm) for different battery types. Generally speaking, nihm is better for high energy usage devices.

Milliampere-Hour (mAh) is the rating for how much energy a battery holds. Bigger numbers are better and batteries that are rated at 2300 and above are excellent. I just looked and my most recent ones are rated at 1800.

Rechargeable batteries are on my xmas list, maybe Santa will drop a few higher rated ones in my stocking. If you have a digital cam, rechargeables are almost mandatory unless you own a battery store. Like renegade says, NiMH is probably the best choice. Check your manual to make sure.
